In the winter of 2022, Tokyo-based Canon Inc., with more than 180,000 employees worldwide, announced the establishment of CHCU, reflecting the company’s unwavering commitment to an expanding presence in America, through Canon’s state-of-the-art technology, innovations and services.
With the support of JobsOhio, the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County, Canon chose the Innovation District in Cleveland, Ohio, to be the headquarters for CHCU. Canon joins other notable global organizations located in Cleveland, a unique and multi-dimensional community, boasting world-class healthcare organizations such as the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, and MetroHealth System. In addition, the Innovation District is close to Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University, both beacons of research molding the next generation of healthcare professionals. The Ohio State University, one of America's largest and most comprehensive universities and home to the Wexner Medical Center, is also within easy reach.
CHCU is committed to developing quality partnerships with these centers, as well as other leading academic and research institutions across the US, to research the urgent and unmet needs of healthcare providers, understand their challenges and thus create opportunities to provide solutions in a timely manner. CHCU will leverage these competitive advantages to maximize the vast potential of this ecosystem and expand Canon’s innovation capabilities in healthcare through collaborative research.
